Biology Project- Fairchild Challenge 3- EXTRA CREDIT

Will earn you a test pass (where you take a test and if you score poorly, you get to use the pass to excuse the test)

Due Date: Monday December 2, 2019

What will you have to do? Create an educational board game that increases the probability that seed dispersers and pollinators transport seeds and pollen across developed areas of pine rocklands.

Background:  Pine rocklands, one of the world’s most imperiled ecosystems, once spanned across more than 120,000 acres. Currently, there are less than 2% of the pine rockland ecosystem outside of Everglades National Park much of which exists only as fragmented parcels. Fairchild’s Connect to Protect Network is a conservation program geared towards improving gene flow and genetic health of native plant species by connecting these remaining isolated patches.

Make sure to include the following:
o  Board game that fits the description above (of a pine rockland ecosystem with a native plant species and a pollinator/seed dispersal as the goal of the game).
  • Entry includes student name(s), grade, and school on back of entry
  • Entry clearly depicts a board game in which the objective is to increase the connectivity of pine rockland patches
  • Maximum size 12” x 16”, incorporating original hand-rendered or computer generated imagery and explanatory text.
  • Include and label at least one native plant species or one native pollinator. Research on pollination and/or seed dispersal is evident in the design of the game
  • Bibliography citing at least two sources, following MLA or APA format

Good afternoon Mrs. Valenzano,

My son is in 9 grade and has a project about the Pine Rocklands where he has to make a Board game with instructions similar to this ones. I was wondering if your students are able to put this project together so I can see some pictures and get ideas for my son's project.
Thanks so much!
Jean
